Services

Becoming Muslim

If you would like to take your shahadah, or simply want to talk to someone about Islam
with no obligation at all, you are welcome here. Nobody will pressure you and nobody will
ask you to commit to anything.

Come to any prayer and ask for the imam, or call (779) 910-7010
and we will arrange a quiet time to meet. If you have already taken your shahadah elsewhere
and want somewhere to learn and belong, that is exactly what this masjid is for.

Nikah & marriage

Nikah can be conducted at the masjid. Please contact us in advance to arrange a date,
confirm the requirements and complete the paperwork. An Illinois marriage licence from the
DeKalb County Clerk is required for the civil registration.

Zakat & financial assistance

The masjid receives zakat and distributes it to eligible families in DeKalb County.
If you are in need, requests are handled confidentially.

Visits & tours

School groups, NIU classes, churches and community organisations are welcome to visit.
We will show you the prayer hall, explain what Muslims believe and practise, and answer
whatever you would like to ask. Please write ahead so someone can host you properly.

Facilities

Separate prayer space for women · wudu facilities · parking on site ·
children welcome. The masjid is a short walk from Northern Illinois University.

Janazah & funeral

The masjid assists families with ghusl, kafan, janazah prayer and burial arrangements.
If there has been a death in the family, contact the masjid as early as you are able —
janazah is normally prayed after one of the daily congregations.

Call (779) 910-7010 or write to
info@islamiccenterofdekalb.org, and the masjid will help you make the arrangements.
You do not need to know what to do next; tell us what has happened and we will take it from there.
