Islamic Center of DeKalb ICD Masjid

Our Imam

Imam Safder Maqbool leads the five daily prayers and the Jumu’ah
khutbah at the Islamic Center of DeKalb, and teaches the community’s children.

At the masjid

The imam leads the congregation every day, gives the Friday khutbah, and teaches the
Evening Qur’an Classes for boys aged seven and over, four
evenings a week through the school year.

He is also the person to speak to about taking your shahadah, a nikah, a janazah, or any
question about the deen — large or small, and whether or not you attend the masjid regularly.

Speak to the imam

Call (779) 910-7010

If he does not answer he is likely leading a prayer or teaching. Leave a
message, or come to the masjid before any congregation.

Supporting the imam

Some in the community like to give the imam a personal gift — a hadiya — in appreciation
of his teaching, particularly at Eid or at the end of a term of classes. This can be sent
directly by Zelle:

Imam Safder Maqbool

This is a personal gift to the imam, not a donation to the masjid.
It does not go to the Islamic Center of DeKalb, and it is not tax-deductible. To support the
masjid itself — the building, the utilities, the classes and the Ramadan meals — please use the
donate page.

Recitation from the masjid
